About Certified Alaska Tough

Certified Alaska Tough distinguishes building products that can withstand the extreme climate conditions of Alaska, while meeting strict energy efficiency standards.

Quinhagak Prototype HomeThe Certified Alaska Tough labeling system for building products is designed to  accurately addresses the extreme conditions of the Alaskan climate. Established nationwide labeling systems are important and helpful for identifying energy efficient home appliances, but when considering building products, no label comprehensively covers products that are energy efficient and ensure superior performance for cold climates.

CCHRC has initiated a novel certification program, Certified Alaska Tough, which will meet this need. Certified Alaska Tough is not intended to duplicate existing testing or certification programs, but instead will build upon their contributions. Manufacturers of certified products will be awarded the right to use the Certified Alaska Tough label for use in marketing the product.
